Does Preflight read my chats?
It only looks at the message you're about to send, at the moment you hit send, and it does that on your own computer. On the free plan nothing is sent to anyone, including us.
Which sites does it work on?
ChatGPT (chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com) and Claude (claude.ai). More AI tools are on the way.
Will it stop me from sending?
Never. It shows you what it found and you choose: replace with safe data, send anyway, or go back and edit. If anything goes wrong on our side, your message goes through as normal.
What does "Replace with Safe Data" do?
It swaps each sensitive value for a clear placeholder like [SYNTHETIC_PAN] or [REDACTED_OPENAI_KEY]. You see the edited prompt before it's sent, and the AI can still do the task.
Does it check files I attach?
Yes. PDF, Word (.docx) and text files are read on your device and checked the same way as typed text.
Can I add my own words to watch for?
Yes. Open the Preflight popup and add things like project code names, client names or anything else you never want to paste by accident.
How do companies roll it out?
An admin shares a company access token, or IT installs Preflight on every Chrome browser through Google Admin. Admins see how often and what type of data was caught, never what anyone typed.
Does it catch everything?
No tool can. Preflight is a safety net for the mistakes that happen most: IDs, financial details, keys, passwords and your own private terms. It's not a reason to stop thinking before you paste.
